Have oven. Will travel!

A cob oven can weigh in the order of 450kg, and really does not want to be moved, let alone travel on the road. So it was with some trepidation that I built a cob oven-in-a-trailer during 2012.
After installing an experimental suspension system under a base donated by a friend, I built a cob oven just as I would at any school or home - without cement.

It worked beautifully!
Since then, what I thought was going to be simply my demonstration oven has become a popular asset that has travelled many miles and been used to feed hundreds of customers, and I am now using cob oven Mk2.

FCOCoaboardTo date I have baked at Food Festivals, Farmers' Markets, an Apple Festival with Cooking Like Cleopatra, private functions, Weddings, Fétes, Historic reenactments, Youth Group meetings, Community Gardens, Fairs, children's birthday parties...

I have the appropriate Food Hygiene training and insurance, and in terms of working as sustainably as possible:

• I burn locally sourced air-dried firewood
• I don't use pizza boxes.
• I tow with an LPG converted vehicle
• I use organic flours, such as Bacheldre Watermill
• I buy local organic toppings and organic oils from Entertaining Elephants in Church Stretton
